Michael Price
How did you get into radio?
I completed a radio course, and wrote to all stations in Brisbane saying I’d work for them for free. The first to respond was 4BH, and programmer Graham Rigby. He spotted a bargain!
Tell us three things your listener would not know about you?
I believe AFL is the world’s greatest sport. I believe the Beatles are the best band in the history of music. I believe my daughters are the most beautiful girls on the planet.
Outside of radio have you ever won an award for anything?
Under 11’s Most Consistent Mayne Juniors – sponsored by Breakfast Creek Hotel
What's your favourite decade and why?
The 60’s – The best music of all time came from that decade.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Rubber Duckie – Ernie and the Sesame Street kids (OK, Mum and Dad bought it for me!)
What's the worst single you ever bought?
Shaddup You Face – Joe Dolce
What was your first ever job?
Bank Teller – CBA at Macarthur Chambers in Brisbane City.
What is your favourite Meal?
Canadian Breakfast – Buttermilk Pancakes/Bacon/Eggs/Maple Syrup…Mmmmm
What is your favourite Childhood memory?
Always having time to play and laugh.
Who is your favourite Band or Artist?
John. Paul. George. Ringo.
Which famous people have you met / interviewed and who did you like / dislike?
Tommy Emmanuel, Sting, Marcia Hines, Ben Elton, John Farnham, Bryan Brown, Kylie Minogue and Paul Vautin were memorable because they were easy to chat to. Most celebs are. The few who aren’t, are not worth mentioning. They don’t deserve any publicity.
What's the best thing about working for 4BH882?
It’s the station that gave me my start in radio 20 odd years ago. Great people here too.
What do you do while the songs are playing?
I turn up the monitors and listen to them. Otherwise, I prepare my next chat or take phone calls.
As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
I wanted to be an AFL star, or believe it or not, a radio announcer.
If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
My inate ability to consistently embarrass myself.
If a party were being held in honour of you, which track would be played to sum you up (and why)?
Happy Birthday. I assume it is a Birthday Party if it’s in my honour.
Who would you like to meet (past / present)?
I’d like to meet Sir Paul McCartney to discuss song writing, get guitar lessons from Hank B Marvin or Eric Clapton, or sit at a dinner party with Ron Barassi, Leigh Matthews and Kevin Sheedy to talk footy.
