How did you get into radio?

Radio course in Melbourne aged 17.

What's the best thing about working for 4BH882?

I could say my 4 figure salary …. but probably playing the music I grew up with and chatting with our listeners.

Tell us one thing your listener would not know about you?

I enjoy doing jigsaws. I have about 8 framed and hanging up in our house.

What do you do while the songs are playing?

Dance along to each track. Only kidding. Check web for relevant stories, read through the local paper, jot down some things to say.

What do you do when you're not on-air?

For nearly 20 years I've been the editor of 'Jocks' Journal' a publication exclusively for radio people. Check the website: newmedia.com.au

If you weren't a radio host, what do you think you would be doing?

Love acting. I've done a number of local stage plays and I play a few characters in the Fabulous Sound s of the 60s Show.

If a film was made of your life which actor should play you? Please explain why.

Probably UK actor Alan Rickman. I've had a few people say I look a bit like him …. well that's what they say.

Outside of radio have you ever won an award for anything?

Yes won a heat of the TV talent show Pot Luck doing a 'stand up' comedy routine.

What's your favourite decade and why?

1960s. Produced the best pop songs including my favourite band (The Beatles), my favourite show as a kid (The Samurai) and the St Kilda footy clubs only premiership.

What was the first record you ever bought?

First album was by the band Catmother and the All Night News Boys. Single might have been Travelin' Band/Who'll Stop The Rain by CCR.

What's the worst single you ever bought?

They were all good. But I remember someone giving me Elton John's album Caribou for a present and I was really disappointed. Had no Elton hits and poor songs.

 

What would you do if you won $1,000,000?

I don't know how I could. I never go in for lotteries. I'm not that good at maths but I do know the meaning of 'odds'.

What was your first ever job?

A paperboy.

What is your favourite meal?

Christmas lunch.

What is your favourite holiday destination?

Our family spent 3 years in Melbourne so the kids now enjoy visits back to Victoria.

What is your favourite childhood memory?

Watching The Samurai on TV and playing Samurai and ninjas with the kids in our street.

What is your favourite Film?

Picnic At Hanging Rock

Who is your favourite Band or Artist?

Beatles

What is your favourite Song?

Penny Lane would come close.

What is your favourite Album?

Chicago's first double album

If a party were being held in honour of you, which track would be played to sum you up (and why)?

Oh When The Saints Go Marching In. Pretty obvious.

Which famous people have you met / interviewed and who did you like / dislike?

Had Davy Jones and Peter Tork on my radio show for half and hour that was special.

Who would you like to meet (past / present)?

Rowan Atkinson or John Lennon (born on my birthday different year).

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

More ugly. It can be a huge burden going through life as a sex symbol.

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?

I remember writing to my Nana and telling her I wanted to be a Pope as there was a Pope Gregory!
