Geoff Harrison
How did you get into radio?
I was doing a breakfast shift at a community station and the boss of a new station that was starting heard me and offered me a gig. Before that I used to spend endless school holidays at 4BK and listening to the greats from Alan McGirvan to Ken Smith to Wayne Roberts and thinking that sounds like fun.
What's the best thing about working for 4BH882?
Working alongside a small group of people who value the heritage of the station, plus its handy to the Cannon Hill train station.
Tell us one thing your listener would not know about you?
Surely that's enough about me, let's talk about you!
What do you do while the songs are playing?
OK, so it's still about me then...well I treat the desk as a drum kit.
What's your favourite decade and why?
The 80's, life didn't slip by so fast then.
What was the first record you ever bought?
"Dumb Ditties".
What's the worst single you ever bought?
It was either a one way to Doboy station or "Shine On Brisbane"
What was your first ever job?
My afternoon part-time job when I was at school was as a Milko in the days when milk came in glass bottles and workplace health & safety rules weren't even dreamt of and you could hang on the side of the milk truck from street to street.
What is your favourite Meal?
Still a vindaloo from Nihal at the Taj Mahal in New Farm. Still haven't got a free one after all these years despite writing that on the website...the power hey!
What is your favourite Childhood memory?
When my older brother and I shared a bedroom and he'd tell me stories about a character he'd named 'Zoom Zoom'. He now tells my nephew (his son) 'Zoom Zoom' stories.
Who is your favourite Band or Artist?
At the moment (and it's been a long moment of time) Keith Urban or Bog The Donkey (from Ireland) or ...
What is your favourite Song?
Whatever I'm hitting repeat over and over on at the moment...it changes.
