Air Supply
Air Supply made a long overdue and very much welcome return to Brisbane on Saturday night to begin their tour with Australian Orchestras. Here in Brisbane they were superbly supported by the Queensland Orchestra.
I’d never seen Air Supply live before and was expecting a very formal presentation. Instead what the audience got was very passionate performance by a couple of blokes who not only have learnt their craft through nearly 35 years but importantly still yearn for it. It was dramatic and theatrical and the sound production crisp and clear. Even the songs that I’d never heard before I enjoyed hearing. Such testing of unfamiliar songs with an audience doesn’t always go down so well.
A part of the show that I’m sure has kept people talking was the appearance of Graham Russell’s grandson who I’m guessing is about 6 or 7 years of age. He sat alongside Pop on stage for a song just to do whatever he wanted from waving to clicking his fingers. Not a grand contribution to the music of the night, but one that meant so much to Graham.
What about Russell Hitchcock’s amazing voice, still strong and unique as ever. The way it blends is just indescribable. It’s no wonder these guys are constantly touring the globe!
My only beef with the night came from a couple of ladies that were sitting next to me. Despite their obvious internal belief they were not natural singers, but that didn’t stop them from joining in from their seats. All through the first half I was thinking “I’m here to listen to the people on stage, not you two”! I moved seats during the interval. So what is the etiquette at concerts? I’m not wishing to ban ‘singing along’ but surely there is an unwritten rule that you sing along in moderation with moderate levels of volume. I’d welcome your thoughts on this problem.
So Air Heads (the official term for Air Supply fans) this blog needs your contribution. Tell me of your night out with Air Supply with the Queensland Orchestra. What we’re your highlights and lowlights? Give me your thoughts to the ‘singing along’ problem?
If you have photos from the concert you’d we could add to our galleries please email them to: photos@4bh.com.au
All the Best,

Hi Geoff
Sorry, this is not a comment on Air Supplies performance, and only because I was out of town.
But could you please tell me their tour schedule.
I am hoping to catch them before they leave Australia.Thank you

Hi Geoff,
We thought Air Supply sounded great. You could feel there personalities all the way to the back seats.
I usally give noisy people next me a big stare when they're singing too loud. Works for me. Thanks for bringing Air Supply back after so long.
